WHAT THIS TOOL IS FOR
This simple carbon footprint calculator estimates kg CO2e from common everyday activities.
Enter car miles, electricity kWh and gas kWh, then adjust the factors when you have better local figures.
It is for quick comparison, not an audited emissions report.
HOW TO USE IT
Page 1 enters the activity amounts: car miles, electricity kWh and gas kWh.
Page 2 edits emissions factors and rounding.
Page 3 shows the working and final kg CO2e estimate.
Set an activity amount to zero if you do not want to include it.
HOW THE ESTIMATE WORKS
Each activity is multiplied by an emissions factor.
Car impact = miles × car factor.
Electricity impact = kWh × electricity factor.
Gas impact = kWh × gas factor.
Total kg CO2e = car + electricity + gas.
WORKED EXAMPLE
Car: 50 miles × 0.28 = 14.0 kg CO2e.
Electricity: 100 kWh × 0.20 = 20.0 kg CO2e.
Gas: 200 kWh × 0.18 = 36.0 kg CO2e.
Total = 70.0 kg CO2e.
WHO USES IT
Households use it to compare energy use. Drivers use it to estimate trip emissions.
Students, teachers, project teams and small organisations use it for quick carbon calculations.
The factors are editable so the calculator can match local or updated estimates.
