WHAT THIS TOOL DOES

This mixing ratio calculator works out the amount of A and B needed for a two-part mixture.

Use it for ratios like 1:4, 2:1, 3:2 or 5:1.

Enter a total amount, or enter one known part and calculate the other part plus the total.

HOW TO USE IT

Enter the A:B ratio, such as 1:4.

Choose whether you know the total mixture, the amount of A, or the amount of B.

Enter the known amount and unit, then press SOLVE.

The output keeps the same ratio while changing the total size.

MIXING RATIO FORMULAS

If total is known: total parts = A + B.

One part = total ÷ total parts.

A amount = A ratio × one part.

B amount = B ratio × one part.

KNOWN PART FORMULAS

If A is known: one part = known A ÷ A ratio.

Then B = B ratio × one part.

If B is known: one part = known B ÷ B ratio.

Total = calculated A + calculated B.

WORKED EXAMPLE

For a 1:4 ratio and a 500ml total, total parts = 1 + 4 = 5.

One part = 500 ÷ 5 = 100ml.

A = 1 × 100ml = 100ml.

B = 4 × 100ml = 400ml.
